One little decision, lots of changes

Well, here I go again.  This is the fourth or fifth iteration of my website.  Most of the previous versions were driven by technology changes, but this version of the website was created because I waved goodbye to wedding photography.  It was a simple business decision, but it had a lot of unseen consequences.  A new website was a given, but there were so many little things to change that I didn’t think about when I made the decision to stop doing weddings.

A new blog

It has taken a long time to get around to creating this page.  It was one of the more obvious jobs to do, but top of the list for me was to get my search engine optimisation sorted out for the new site.  That has taken an eternity, and I have decided that I really don’t lke Mr Google at all.  To get ranked on Google takes a lot of time, effort and money.  Anyone who says the internet is free really doesn’t know how Google works and how they can manipulate the web to make lots of money.  That’s difficult to deal with for a small business like me.

What’s to come then?

I don’t know why I asked myself that because I don’t know the answer.  I am a notoriously slow blogger.  I would much rather be out and about with camera in hand  doing what I love the most.  Taking pictures is what it’s all about for me.  I love my job, going full time was the best decision I ever made.  Working for myself gives me all of the motivation I need to succeed, but best of all it’s not really work. It is a passion.  In time I will look at the three areas of my business in a bit more detail.  Portraits, actors’ headshots and corporate headshots are my focus now (pun intended), so I will be posting about those areas.  I also have some of my fine art / art nude work for sale in my shop, together with aircraft, landscape and seascape images.  Writing about all of that will keep me busy for a while in my spare time, although I’m not sure I have any of that.

Comments

Please feel free to make comments about my posts.  That can be quite a dangerous thing for me to say as I am almost inviting my site to be spammed.  It’s time to put my anti-spam software to the test, and all comments will be moderated, so I will see how things go.  If things get too hot, the comments section will go.  In the meantime, thanks for taking a look and welcome to Mel Pettit Photography!  I hope to see you back here.
